Lent & Holy Week

Lent is a time of prayer, fasting, and generosity.

Lent is the forty-day period between Ash Wednesday and Easter. During this season, we invite you to join us as we prepare our hearts for Easter. Every Wednesday, we will meet for a soup supper, study, and a prayer service. During Holy Week, the week before Easter, we gather to reflect on the events leading to Jesus’ death on the cross.

Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday)

Palm Sunday is celebrated the Sunday before Easter, and on that day, we reflect on Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey as the crowd laid palm branches on the road before him. Just days later, Jesus was put on trial and executed before a jeering crowd, presumably some of the same people who cheered him days before. Our service ends with a reflection of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for our sins.

Lenten Soup & Bread

During the season of Lent, we meet every Wednesday to eat, study, and pray together. We start in the downstairs fellowship hall with a meal of soup and bread provided by the church community. Following dinner, we have a study at 6:00 pm, usually a book or topic relevant to the season. Finally, at 7:00 pm, we go upstairs for a Holden Evening Prayer service. We welcome you to join us for any part of the evening, or to stay for all of it, as you desire and your schedule allows.
